Creative Decisions Foundation Events

Competition Format

The T.L. Saaty Global Hackathon 2024 is a 3-day virtual event held via Zoom for teams of 2 to 3 students. If you’re not already part of a team, register individually, and we’ll help you join a team before the competition begins. No prior knowledge of AHP or ANP is required—just bring your problem-solving mindset!

    Setup Day

Before the Hackathon begins, all participants will attend a Setup Day to get their development environments ready. This includes installing Python, necessary libraries, and configuring coding environments to ensure smooth competition days.

    First Day

The first day kicks off with intensive training in AHP and ANP methods, equipping teams with the foundational skills for the competition. In the afternoon, teams will engage in hands-on practice with decision-making tools to gain confidence for their project work. Additionally, teams will attend talks that provide insights into real-world decision-making challenges. After training, teams will start brainstorming their approaches to tackle the given ethical dilemmas and decision problems.

    Second Day

The second day begins with additional training and idea development. Teams will work on defining their decision-making problem, outlining the framework, identifying decision factors, and modeling the problem using appropriate methods and tools. By afternoon, they’ll shift focus to finalizing their case analysis and structuring their presentations for the preliminary round.

    Third Day

On the final day, each team will present their case analysis and recommendations in a preliminary round. Teams will have 15 minutes to present, followed by a 10-minute Q&A session with the judges, who may provide feedback afterward. Following the preliminary round, the top 3 to 5 teams will advance to the final round later in the day. Finalist teams will present their refined solutions, again within a 15-minute presentation and 10-minute Q&A.

Winners will be notified following the final round of judging, with the award ceremony taking place at the ISAHP2024 conference, where winning teams will be celebrated for their innovative solutions and contributions to decision-making in autonomous vehicle ethics.
