Abstract: The document is from Thomas Saaty's unpublished book "New Mathematics and Measurement for the Physical, Social and Life Sciences" finished in 2004. This is chapter 6: Validation Examples of the Analytic Hierarchy Process and Analytic Network Process. " In this chapter, we deal with the following ideas: § What are some real-life examples that help increase our confidence that the judgments of the AHP and their outcomes are not a simple excuse for using subjectivity that could amount to garbage in or garbage out? § Numerous examples ranging from a single matrix of comparisons to hierarchies and networks of elaborate kinds are provided to make the point that the expert judgment is our main guide to understand and interpret the world in a rational way that is finer and more accurate than using words and language."
